Part 1: General Points about Rom Modern furniture

• You will find information that is valid for all Rom living room furniture models in this section. Internal values inform you about the materials used in our products on the finish, on our position with respect to protection of nature and our concern for the health of our customers.
• Fabrics and leathers is a complete overview of our collection of fabrics and leathers, with the technical data, all of the information about the finish and maintenance as well as the category allocated to the fabric, which will influence the price of the selected fairs. You will also find a list of 2009 fabrics taken from the collection.

Materials used in our Furniture

• We use professionally- dried beech wood for the internal frame.
• We produce flat parts from plywood or E1 particle boards.
• Permanently elastic Nosag steel springs serve as the basis of the seat upholstery
• High-quality and absolutely permanently elastic latex straps are rigged In the backs
• The Foam Structure is multi-layered; different thickness (25-35kg/m3) and hardnesses guarantee perfect comfort. The seats are produced in CMHR-cold foam with 2-year guarantee.
• For the back we use a filling of CMHR-foam or for some back cushions a filling of loose materials.
• Between the foam and covering, a layer of polyester fleece ensures a perfect grip.
• The higher feet are made of hand-crafted beech or oak wood and hard chromium-plated steel.
• Our leathers are inspected by independent testing institutes for optimal characteristics.
• All fabrics are internally tested for fastness to rubbing, fastness to light pilling and seam strength.
• The packagings are very elaborate, in order to virtually exclude the possibility of transport damage.

Processing

• Leather, fabrics, boards and foams are precision-cut on the most modern CNC machines.
• The frame construction, sewing and upholstering, by contrast, remain the job of highly skilled craftsmen with whom we maintain a long tradition.
• Most models are casually processed, meaning that they also look comfortable and are not tightly upholstered. Creases can therefore develop after a short time, especially in the seat; however, they will not grow appreciably with further use and are no ground for objections.
• Our production is certified according to ISO 9001:2000.
• All products go through at least two quality controls and are photographed prior to being wrapped, in order to be able to check the processing afterwards as well.

Environment

• All woods come from European, sustainably-managed forests. We use the wastes to heat our production rooms, thus doing away with fuel oil entirely.
• Our foams are manufactured with CFC's. The wastes generated during the processing are 100% recycled. The polyester fleeces are heat-set, and fleece wastes are also 100% recycled.
• Our packages are pure-fraction (cardboard or LDPE) and can be recycled without difficulty.

Health

• The plywood is particle boards we use correspond to the E1 standard.
• Through the careful drying of local woods to 12% wood moisture content, we can dispense entirely with the chemical conservation of solid wood.
• Our polyester fleeces are heat-set, without solvents.
• The adhesives used are either low-solvent or entirely solvent-free
• Our leather is PCP-free
• All of our fabrics, threads, fleeces and foams satisfy the Okotex standard.
